Verification Of Identity

Verification of Identity
Verification of Identity is the new statutory requirement under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 for every UK director, PSC, and member of an LLP to have their identity verified at Companies House — either directly or via an Authorised Corporate Service Provider.
Phased rollout: voluntary verification opened April 2025, mandatory for new appointees from autumn 2025, and mandatory for all existing directors and PSCs by autumn 2026. Verification can be done via the GOV.UK One Login service or by an ACSP (regulated accountant, solicitor, TCSP). A verified person gets a unique identifier on the Companies House register. Failure to verify by the deadline is an offence for both the individual and the company.
