    AML

Anti-Money Laundering (AML) is a body of UK regulations requiring regulated firms to identify the people they do business with and report suspicious activity to the National Crime Agency.

Under the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 (as amended), every regulated firm in the UK — accountancy practices, law firms, estate agents, trust and company service providers, and others — must run risk assessments, do customer due diligence (CDD), keep records for at least five years, and report suspicions of money laundering or terrorist financing. The Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) is the named person inside the firm responsible for receiving internal reports and filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) with the NCA.
