Sic Code
Glossary
SIC Code
A Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code is a 5-digit code that describes the nature of a UK company's business activity, used on the Companies House register.
You pick at least one SIC code on incorporation (up to four). The current edition is the UK SIC 2007, which is being replaced by SIC 2026. Choosing the right code matters for: accuracy of public records, eligibility for some bank accounts and insurance products that match certain SIC codes, and government statistical reporting. Generic "other business support service activities" codes (74990, 82990) are common defaults when the activity doesn't fit neatly.
