    P60

    Glossary

    P60

A P60 is the year-end summary an employer must give every employee still on payroll at 5 April, showing total pay and tax deducted for the tax year.

The deadline to issue P60s is 31 May following the tax year end. Employees use them as proof of income for mortgages, loans, and Self Assessment. P60s can be issued electronically — paper isn't mandatory. Forgetting to issue them is a common payroll oversight in small firms.
