    Enhanced Due Diligence

    Glossary

    Enhanced Due Diligence

Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) is the deeper level of customer checks UK regulated firms must apply to higher-risk clients — including PEPs, clients in high-risk jurisdictions, and any client where standard CDD raises concerns.

EDD typically includes: senior management approval before onboarding, source of funds and source of wealth verification, enhanced ongoing monitoring, and additional verification of identity documents. The trigger for EDD is risk-based — your firm-wide risk assessment determines when standard CDD isn't enough. EDD records must clearly show what additional steps were taken and why.
