    Sponsor Audit

    Glossary

    Sponsor Audit

A sponsor audit is a UKVI compliance visit to a UK sponsor licence holder — either pre-licence (assessing the application) or post-licence (assessing ongoing compliance) — examining records, systems, and the genuineness of sponsored roles.

Audits can be announced or unannounced, in person or remote. UKVI typically examines: HR records on every sponsored worker (CV, right to work documents, attendance, payslips), the SMS account, sponsor licence procedures, training records, and a sample interview with the Authorising Officer. Findings range from advisory recommendations through to immediate licence revocation. A failed audit usually means: revocation, sponsored workers' visas curtailed to 60 days, and a cooling-off period before re-application.
