    Cooling Off Period

    Glossary

    Cooling-Off Period

A cooling-off period is the mandatory wait after a UK sponsor licence has been revoked, surrendered with action pending, or refused — during which the company (and certain related individuals) cannot apply for a new licence.

Standard cooling-off period is 12 months from revocation; for serious breaches it can be longer. The period applies not just to the company but to any director, Authorising Officer, or Key Personnel who were in those roles during the revocation. Restructuring (changing company name or directors) does not escape the cooling-off period — UKVI looks through to the underlying control.
